just got back from a little shopping fun with lindsay. for once, i picked myself something up. my purchace consisted a montreal canadiens jersey t-shirt… mike cammalleri’s #13 to be exact!

p.s #11 should be retired and hung among the greats in the bell centre rafters

i would honestly be very happy if i could see a couple charlie-desmond scenes or maybe even some new charlie-locke scenes. how many more months till season six?

over the past few years, i have began to realize that hockey never ends. even after the stanley cup finals, hoisting of the cup and all the various interviews, hockey continues to be talked about and explored at the same scale it is during the regular season. being the fan that i am, i am for sure not complaining one bit. over the next few weeks, the nhl awards and entry draft will take place. i have had the entry draft marked on my calendar for some time. it should be a great night of hockey. this year will be even more special, as the draft will be taking place in montreal, the hometown to the greatest hockey team that ever touched the ice surface. many people in montreal have been buzzing since the trade deadline about vinny lecavalier possibly being traded to the habs, in what would be a blockbuster trade that would for sure be talked about for many years to come.

this year, the habs are going into free agency with approximately 30 million dollars to spend. that amount is the highest of any of the teams that are in the nhl, so lets hope mr. bob gainey can pulls a few tricks out of his sleeve. afterall, its still the 100th year celebration, and boy would a couple of major signings and re-signings make up for the heartbreaking loss to the boston bruins in the first round of the playoffs.

i have always enjoyed the journey to getting a cd that i always wanted or finding out of a band that i never knew about. those are some times that i enjoy a lot. so my purchase for this evening was not of a new band, but rather an old 90′s album, 1965 from a an amazing band, the afghan whigs. i’m looking forward to receiving it in the mail.

the only way this night could get better was if lindsay lu was here. we love nights of thunder and lightning… next time babe!

Canada’s governor general, Michaelle Jean, has helped to butcher and eat a seal in an apparent act of solidarity with hunters.

But correspondents say it is likely to be imposed before the 2010 hunting season starts.

Ms Jean used a traditional Inuit knife to help gut the animal then ate a slice of raw heart.

It came weeks after the EU voted to ban Canadian seal products, but Ms Jean did not say if her actions were in response to the EU proposals.

An EU spokeswoman said the story was “too bizarre to acknowledge”.

The governor general is the representative of Canada’s head of state, Queen Elizabeth II.

Ms Jean was touring northern Canadian communities and was at a festival at Rankin Inlet on Monday attended by hundreds of Inuit when she ate the seal heart.

Asked later if her actions were a message to the EU, she said: “Take from it what you will.”

Hunting is ‘crucial’

The European Parliament recently voted in favour of the ban on Canadian seal products in protest against commercial seal hunting methods.

Inuit people are exempt from the ban, but many fear that it will inevitably have a negative effect on their livelihoods as well.

The authorities say the hunt is crucial for about 6,000 North Atlantic fishermen who rely on it for much of their income.

The government has authorised the killing of more than 300,000 seals this year.

But fisheries officials say only about 65,000 seals will be killed as a fall in the price of seal pelts means there are fewer hunters this season.

Animal welfare groups have long argued that the clubbing of seal pups by hunters is barbaric.

The EU’s proposed ban still requires the agreement of EU ministers to take effect.
